A near-total abortion ban is in effect in Iowa, and patients are paying the price for lawmakers playing politics with our lives. The law bans abortion around six weeks of pregnancy, before most people even know they are pregnant. Yet, the attacks don’t stop. We know politicians won’t quit until abortion is banned in our state, so we cannot back down in this fight.

The Iowa Supreme Court ruled on June 28, 2024 to reinstate a near-total abortion ban passed by lawmakers and signed by Gov. Kim Reynolds. The ban went into effect on Monday, July 29, 2024. Abortion is now only legal up until cardiac activity is detected. This is usually around six weeks into pregnancy but could be earlier or later.
